NEWS: YOSHIKI receives prestigious Japanese medal of honor for HIS CHARITABLE WORK WITH YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA

YOSHIKI received the Japanese Medal of Honor in March of this year (2021), but since he had been away from Japan for a long time, the award ceremony was held on December 21, more than half a year later.

YOSHIKI received the Medal with the Dark Blue Ribbon, which is awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions to the national government, local governments, and public entities.

YOSHIKI commented, "I am very honored to receive the Medal of Honor. I hope to continue supporting these efforts in the future. I would be grateful if the circle of charity would expand further through these activities. Thank you very much."​

NEWS: YOSHIKI Donates 10 Million Yen to the International Organization for Migration Toward Ukraine Relief

 

NOVEMBER 22, 2022

YOSHIKI, has donated 10 million yen to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on his birthday, November 20th. The donation will support emergency relief operations in Ukraine and neighboring countries.  

"I really appreciate all the messages I received on my birthday. I don't need gifts for myself, so I would appreciate if you could instead give to a charity you support,"commented YOSHIKI.  

Regarding this donation, he continued: "As the war continues, so many people are unable to live their normal lives, from those who were forced to flee Ukraine or its neighboring countries, to those who are still displaced within Ukraine. This is heartbreaking, and it’s not something I can overlook as someone living in these times. As winter approaches, I hope to help so that as many people as possible can settle in a safe place and spend time with some peace of mind.”

NEWS: YOSHIKI Announces His Holiday Wish & Donation to Help All Refugees Affected by War in Ukraine

YOSHIKI announced today that he is making a donation of 10 million yen to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), bringing the total amount he donated to 20 million yen. This donation will enable IOM to further support all those affected by the war in Ukraine and will directly support emergency relief operations in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

 

YOSHIKI said,

 

“It’s hard to celebrate the holidays when I know there are people suffering. I hope this gift will support people in need and hope this charity movement will continue to spread and inspire others to help. I’m praying for all those people affected by the war and hoping this donation will help in any way possible.”

YOSHIKI received the Japan Society's most prestigious Award of Honor in recognition of his achievements spreading Japanese culture to the world and for his wide range of charitable activities including refugee support and disaster relief in Ukraine.

The 37th Award of Honor Gala, held by the Japan Society of Northern California (JSNC), an American non-profit organization (NPO) based in Silicon Valley with a history of over 110 years. Past recipients of the Award of Honor include Professor Shinya Yamanaka, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan John Roos, former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry, and former Opus One CEO David Pearson.

YOSHIKI auctioned his beloved crystal piano this week, with the winning bid reaching 40 million yen (over $270,000 USD) when the 4-day auction ended on January 16.

 

YOSHIKI announced the auction on January 9 at his ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre, where his cement handprints and footprints were unveiled at the forecourt of the Hollywood landmark. YOSHIKI is the first Japanese star to receive the rare honor from the Chinese Theatre since the tradition began nearly 100 years ago.

 

During the ceremony, YOSHIKI said, "This year, on January first, came more sad news, a huge earthquake struck Japan. It hits me so hard. I’d like to share this moment with those who are mourning loved ones lost. If I may, I’d like to take the opportunity of this special event to give something back, as I’ve done before."

 

YOSHIKI also donated 10 million yen earlier this month to the Japanese Red Cross to aid disaster relief through his 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Yoshiki Foundation America. YOSHIKI said, "I want to spread awareness and expand the circle of support. I sincerely hope that everyone in the disaster-stricken areas can return to their normal lives as soon as possible."

YOSHIKI donated 10 million yen to the Taiwanese Red Cross organization through YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, to support victims of the Taiwanese earthquake that occurred on April 3rd. The donation was made to the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China.

NEWS: YOSHIKI Donates $100,000 for Urgent Disaster Relief to Victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton

  

OCTOBER 15, 2024

YOSHIKI, who is recovering from emergency spinal surgery last week, made the donation through 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Yoshiki Foundation America in partnership with the charitable foundation MusiCares®, a partner of Recording Academy® / GRAMMYs®. The funds will go toward aiding in disaster relief for music professionals impacted by the recent hurricanes.

 

YOSHIKI – who had just returned to Los Angeles for medical treatment after the Paris Fashion Week debut of his high-fashion brand Maison Yoshiki Paris – said, "I hope to raise awareness about the situation and encourage support for the victims. I believe my involvement can help draw more attention, especially within Asia."​
